A Centre: how?
How we see
the Centre
--

THE CENTRE WILL OFFER a setting appropriate to all those who wish to experience and deepen their understanding of the practice of mindfulness applied to daily life. Ideally it will be a large building in the peace and quiet of nature, equipped with all the facilities required for the life of a small resident community (the core community), that will look after its organisation and administration, together with the teachers, and will welcome all those who come to practice at the Centre for short or long terms.
Together and around the core community it has been devised the presence of an extended community composed of several family units (singles or couples, also with children), who would participate in the life of the Centre though living in separate houses nearby and making their own independent activities.
Throughout the year the Centre will offer mindfulness days and retreats open to everyone. Outside the periods dedicated to retreats, long-term guests will be able to share the life of the resident community for weeks or even months.
In addition, special retreats will be organised for professionals who today are particularly exposed to stress, such as teachers, therapists and social services officers.
The Centre will be financially dependent on the income generated by the activities it organises (retreats, training courses, etc.) as well as on donations.
Life at the Centre will be regulated by principles of simplicity, non-violence, awareness of consumption and respect for natural resources. These themes will lie at the heart of the consideration and practice of the resident community and of all those who visit the Centre on a regular basis; they may also become topics in discussions open to all those who are engaged in the fields of peacemaking and sustainable development.
