A Centre: how?
The spaces
we need
--
THE CENTRE WILL NEED, right from the start, a built (or partially to be built) surface area of at least 1,000 square metres, with several hectares of land. This will enable the resident community to be housed immediately and provide room for visitors to the Centre for retreats, mindfulness days or longer periods as members of the community.
In addition to the residential accommodation, guest-rooms, large dining-room, kitchen and annexes, there will also be one or more meditation rooms, a room for mindfulness of the body and children’s activities, a tearoom, an office with a media library, and other service areas.
Restoration or adaptation of existing buildings and construction of new ones will take into account the physical needs of persons with disabilities and elderly.
The same property must also permit accommodation for the extended community, which will require a further 1,000 square metres of building area. This may be built as a second phase, either building new (in conformity with local regulations) or renovating existing buildings. This extra space will not only provide accommodation but gyms and workshops appropriate for activities related to education, health and social work.
